Years of Teaching Experience: 1
I am thrilled to be joining such a tight knit community of students, faculty, and families. I grew up in a similar community, just over the bridge in Benicia. I graduated back in 2010 with friends I’ve known since preschool. I attended Saint Mary’s College after transferring from DVC where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with honors in 2014. I dabbled in a few different jobs, but nothing felt right. I finally decided to give teaching a go, a career path that was always on my mind. I had my first substitute class of 7th graders and I knew this was right for me. I enrolled back at my alma mater for their credential program. One year of schooling later, I find myself enthusiastically here at St. Francis!
When I am not preparing lesson plans or grading, I love to be in the kitchen baking and cooking meals for loved ones. I miss the days of traveling with friends, especially going down south to visit the happiest place on earth! Being in quarantine allowed myself to get back into gardening with a thriving vegetable patch filled with way too many pumpkins. It took a pandemic for me to learn a lot about myself and how to pivot in so many ways.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and ending the school year on a positive note! As I end this introduction, I’d like to leave with a quote from my personal favorite book series, Harry Potter. I think it is important to find the positives of any situation, especially in times like now. “But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
