Principal’s Message
What a great week it has been! Thank you to all the classes and parents who have showered our teachers with lunch, flowers, candy, coffee and kind words. Our faculty and staff have been working hard this year and their smiles are contagious!
Thank you to our auction committee for their endless support and hard work with our auction. It was a wonderful event and it was so fun to watch the bidding wars and the “chats” between families. We are so blessed to have such supportive families and our students will benefit greatly from the many donations.
Please see the updated Reopening plan for the current Travel Advisory which we will follow. It can be found on page 24 of the document and is noted in red. This document can be found under the Parent section of our website.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Congratulations to our 8th graders who just finished their Proteus Project. What is Proteus?
Proteus is a research project that spans over several months. Students develop their skills of writing business letters, effective research, summarization, understanding different perspectives, and forming their own opinion. Each student selects a different controversial topic to research. During the research process, students read various articles and watch videos/listen to interviews on their topic. In the end, the students write a comprehensive report of each side’s arguments and decide what their personal opinions are.
Here is what some of the students had to say about Proteus:
“I learned how to see both sides of an argument and take other opinions into consideration.” -Sofia
“I am happy to have gotten the experience of writing an essay like this because we’ll be doing things like this in high school.” – Katie
“This whole project has taught me that I can follow directions, become a better writer, and finish any project in high school. This project is great because it prepares young kids with having to write an essay for high school, college, or our jobs.” – Marc
Dear StFrancis of Assisi Community,

Are you passionate about helping to make our school even better? The StFrancis of Assisi School Board would love to have you join us next year. No previous board experience is required.
The StFrancis of Assisi School Board’s primary concern is the ministry of Catholic school education: the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social development of the students. This board plays an advisory role in strategic and financial planning, institutional advancement, development and marking.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in we encourage you to join us to learn more about our committees and what we do at our next school board meeting Monday, May 10 at 7pm. Please email Lesley Schooler ([email protected]) to get the Zoom link or with any questions you may have.
