The Saint Francis of Assisi School community was finally able to celebrate the feast of St. Joseph in person with six Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on Friday, March 18, 2022. The sisters, and two associates, were joined by the family of Sister James Marien Dyer, the beloved principal who passed unexpectedly in 2017, as they renewed their vows, re-committing to live in service of God’s family in front of the SFA school community. It is a privilege to honor and uphold this foundational charism, helping students learn to develop habits of service and love. Building upon the traditions rooted in the presence of the Sisters of St. Joseph in our schools and parish is a responsibility embraced at Saint Francis of Assisi School. Continued connection to these dedicated women strengthens our mission to live in God’s teaching, providing a safe, nurturing environment for those we serve, at school and in our communities. https://youtu.be/nmULgZDEGeALast week we also celebrated our STEM week. Thank you to Mrs. Pezel and Ms. Gaind our students were able to experience hands-on activities throughout the week. What is STEM? STEM education is a teaching approach that combines science, technology, engineering, and math. It was a great experience for all! |

LENT IN A BAG: Weeks ⅘ will go home on Friday. The weeks run Sunday through Saturday. Please share your pictures of your Lent Spaces with us! Send your photos to cvanderklugt@csdo.org. Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and School Lenten Almsgiving Project Father Ismael has asked for us to partner in helping the Parish with fundraising for a Mission project in Haiti. La Saline, a commune of Haiti located in the western department, is one of the largest slums in the country. Unemployment, lack of social housing, road infrastructure, and schools reinforce the poor living conditions in La Saline. Misery only stagnates or increases in this vast slum where parents do not have the means to meet the needs of their children, and adolescents are left to their own devices. For the past few years, the incessant fighting between armed gangs, repeated protest strikes, and this year’s health crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic have further aggravated the precarious situation of the families. In a direct way, this project will benefit 250 young people. Read more about the project here: Haiti projectStart collecting your coins for our PENNY BATTLE to lift up Haitian Youth a COIN at a time- more information will be coming soon! |
