What is Advent?
The Advent Season is all about reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ’s birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus’ birth is. During this very special Advent season I invite you to step away from what can be a frenzied time, to consider how we commemorate the birth of Jesus, one of the holiest times in our faith.
As we celebrate this week of Hope, please consider writing a letter to Santa to give “hope” to those who need it most.
“As we are all thinking about the blessings in our life and all we have to be grateful for, we also have an opportunity to give back and raise money for a great cause! For every letter dropped off at Macy’s or submitted online, Macy’s donates $1 to the Make A Wish Foundation. The Make A Wish Foundation helps make kids’ wishes come true to give them strength as they fight and even overcome critical illnesses. Letters can be dropped off at the Falcon’s Fly By or submitted online. Such a fun and easy way to give back and remember you are never too old to write a letter to Santa!”
Please join me in welcoming our new 5th grade Instructional Assistant, Miss Silveira.
“Hello everyone! My name is Sancianna Silveira and I am both excited and humbled to join the SFA community as your new fifth grade instructional assistant. I have been blessed and fortunate enough to have attended Catholic schools throughout my entire academic career beginning with Saint Agnes Elementary School, then going on to Carondelet High School and recently finishing at Saint Mary’s College of Ca. Catholic schooling feels safe and familiar to me and I cannot wait to create new, meaningful connections within the SFA community.
I have always been fascinated with the power of storytelling and human connection. Because of this, I find great joy in reading, watching films, listening to music, learning foreign languages and above all, spending time with my family and friends. Just this past year, I was an au pair in Paris, France. I went with goals of improving my French language skills, learning more about French culture, creating long lasting relationships and finding out more about myself. It was such a memorable trip and I am so grateful for such an enriching life experience. I am really looking forward to taking my next professional step through working with Ms. Ferber and our current fifth grade students.
Fifth grade is an exciting, developmental year for spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth. It is my belief that each student is gifted with a special set of talents that make them unique and give them purpose. I will empower each child to listen to their divinely gifted intuition as they begin to grasp a greater understanding of the world around them. I hope to create a safe and collaborative learning environment where students learn from and inspire one another.
Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and being a part of my journey. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!”
