Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. This Sunday we join with Catholic Schools across the nation to celebrate the gift of Catholic education. Please join us for our Drive-In style Family Mass at 11:30 am to kick-off the celebration! It will be a week full of recognizing the impact that our Catholic schools have on their communities, nation, and world as they grow in faith, knowledge, and love together.
This year Saint Francis of Assisi School will incorporate a perspective of time in our celebration: Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Present, and Transforming Our Future. We will celebrate our partnerships, achievements, and have some fun throughout the week. While our activities may have had to shift a bit, the recognition and awareness of the investment by our parents, our Pastor and faculty, and the parish in support of Saint Francis of Assisi and our students remains at the heart of what we celebrate next week. We are grateful for the family and the future we are creating in partnership with you. On Wednesday, we will have our first ever “Virtual Spelling Bee” for grades 3-8. TK-2nd will have their own “Spelling Bee” in their classes and we will celebrate our Future Spellers as well. We will begin the Spelling Bee at 10:00 and a link will come from your homeroom teachers. The future is BRIGHT! Please be sure to check the week’s schedule for activities and daily Spirit Dress themes so you do not miss out on ANYTHING!

To celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Sixth Graders watched his famous “I Have a Dream” speech and then read the Langston Hughes’ poem, “I Dream a World,” on which Dr. King based his speech. Our Sixth Grade poets were then challenged to write their own version of Hughes’ poem. These are their hopes and dreams for our world.
