Straying from what has become pattern and practice on Tuesdays, today there were no specific updates provided by either the State or Contra Costa County Health Services related to tier designations or additional restrictions. What has been relayed is that Contra Costa County continues to be in the Purple (widespread) Tier. COVID-19 cases and positivity rates continue to rise in our county and are in fact higher than all other Bay Area counties. Additionally, there has been an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in our local hospitals prompting additional preparation for a continued surge of cases.
Due to the above and taking into consideration holiday travel and gatherings, I have decided to exercise an abundance of caution and move all students back into the Digital Learning Platform for the Week of November 30-December 4, 2020. This decision comes with the support of Father Ismael, the Diocese of Oakland Superintendent, School Board Advisory Committee and our faculty and staff. As always, our focus continues to be the health and safety of our entire school community. This delay in our continued reopening is intended to not only keep our students, faculty and staff safe but affords us the best opportunity for continued success and maintenance of our reopening plan. We have enjoyed having learners on campus and look forward to grades TK-5 joining us for in-person learning beginning Monday, December 7, 2020, in their cohorts, which have already been assigned.
I am thankful for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through these times. I am confident that we will continue to persevere.
